Fire pit fun on a cold & frosty day

Well the weather certainly changed over the weekend with a lot of places seeing snow (sadly not us) so on Saturday we wrapped up warm and went for a quick walk in the woods and had great fun crunching ice puddles with our Wellington boots and spotting the wildlife, hoping to see some dear, but I fear we may have been a little to noisy for that what with all the ice crunching and so on.

When we came home the hubs lighted the fire pit…

He made the fire pit a couple of years ago by lifting up a paving slab and digging a hole then he used an old wok and some bricks to make the fire pit and then when its not in use it gets covered back up by the paving slab.

Our daughter toasted bread while the rest of us sat chatting around the fire…

Then when the flames started to die down we put the kettle on for a nice warming cuppa…

The teen came in on his lunch hour and he sat outside in the summer house and ate his lunch before heading back of to work and our daughter swung on the swing whilst waiting for the kettle to boil…

The garden looks a little tatty and unloved at the moment but come the warmer weather it is a very pretty garden full of lovely flowers and a small but productive vegetable patch. But there are signs of warmer days creeping in already and the summer house gets used all year round….

So after a few hours in the garden we all went indoors smelling of smoke (that is the only downside) and got cosy for the rest of the afternoon.

On Sunday it drizzled with rain and was really cold so it was a day spent watching old episodes of Sherlock Holmes and Miss Marple whilst a nice joint of meat roasted in the oven, plenty of warming drinks and some peaceful time to read a good book and make plans for the week ahead.

What did you all get up to and did you have any snow ?

Thanks for taking the time to have a read,Tabitha πŸ™‚
