I used to have a little toy mouse in a matchbox when I was a child and I took it everywhere with me as well as a teeny tiny doll in a monkey nut shell. Do you remember these ? So because of these I make little felt mice in boxes to sell in my shop and one of them even went from here in the UK to the USA for a little girl for Christmas ! This is my latest one and as well as coming with its bedding I also made a little tutu for the mouse to wear and a teeny tiny book for the mouse to read as well…
My little mouse reminds me of the mouse called Primrose in the Brambly Hedge books by Jill Barklem.I used to love reading those stories to my daughter when she was little and we still have them and I still look through them as the illustrations are beautiful. I haven’t named my little mouse as it is up to the child to name their own mouse but if I did I would call it Primmie after Primrose. Have you read these books and if so what is your favourite story ? Mine is The Secret Staircase because who wouldn’t want to find some hidden rooms all furnished and filled with lovely things ?
Maybe next time I will make a little boy mouse inspired by Beatrix Potter’s books.Maybe the little gentleman mouse in The Tailor Of Gloucester. I don’t think I could make my mouse such fine clothes as that of the little gentleman mouse though.
Thank you for reading and I love to hear from you so I know I am not talking to just myself!
