Seashells by the seashore table runner

blog 018

I purchased this lovely linen mix seashell fabric a while ago to make some aprons with which didn’t work out as well as expected as I realised that it would have been better if I had lined it, so lesson learned. Which left me with some spare fabric to play with that I used to make a sewing roll ( see blog post here ) and this table runner.

I backed the seashell fabric in a soft yellow cotton and each of the ends of the runner are bordered in the soft yellow as well.

So easy to make, in theory you just cut two pieces of fabric to size allowing for seam allowances, place them on top of each other, right sides facing, pin in place, machine sew all around remembering to leave a small gap to turn the fabric right side out. When turned right side out, iron then carefully top stitch around the edge which will enclose your gap and voila you are done.

I made it a little trickier for myself with adding the yellow border at each end which I think finishes it of nicely.

I am toying with the idea of making some of these for my shop in different fabrics and lengths what do you think ?

Anyway I have to go as I am playing around with applique today what are your plans ?

Have a great week
