Hello, welcome to The Sewing Nook UK blog where I share my love of sewing, crafting, family, baking, vintage and all things handmade.

I live in a Victorian house in Sussex, England in a small seaside town, with my husband, our two teenage children and my black cat.

I work from my dining room table or my little sewing nook making modern, fun aprons for the whole family and more which I sell in my Etsy shop.

I have sewn for as long as I can remember.

I have taught my daughter to sew and every school holiday we aim to work on some sewing projects together.

Even though I have always sewn I didn’t think of it as a career but chose instead to work in the beauty industry as a cosmetic consultant/make up artist. Still creative but with cosmetics instead of fabrics !

It was only when I became a stay at home mum that I re-discovered my love of sewing and set about making some of mine and my daughters clothes, cushions and curtains for my home and hand sewn gifts for family and friends.

As my confidence grew I began selling my bunting and aprons in a local Craft shop for three years before starting this blog and my Etsy shop in the same year (March 2015).

I love fabrics that are bright and fun. My favourite being good quality cottons, linens and vintage fabrics.

You won’t find me buying fabrics in bulk as I only make a few of each design in any one fabric and I strive to design and make all my products the best they can be.

I try to always be true to myself, be original, put my own little twists in my designs and not get to caught up in trends.

Last but by no means least, when I design and make my products I make them as affordable as possible as I believe that everyone should be able to own a product that has been carefully handmade whether it is something to wear or for your home.
